12 members of the Whitney Young High School Aerospace Club took a break from preparing for the NASA Student Launch Initiative to tour CRRC’s passenger railcar manufacturing facility. The team qualified for the launch after placing in the top 25 at the American Rocketry Challenge this past spring and are now working with a NASA engineer to develop a high-powered rocket to be launched in Huntsville, Ala, in April. Many of the students hope to pursue careers in engineering and have already demonstrated a high level of skill and interest in the field. They enjoyed getting a behind the scenes look at what goes into building the 7000 Series passenger railcar, specifically the technology that engineers use to design and assemble the product. CRRC tour guides were thrilled to answer the students’ thorough questions about the manufacturing process.
Tours for students are conducted throughout the year. For more information about future opportunities to tour the CRRC facility, please email info@crrcchi.com.
