CRRC Sifang America is proud to be the top tier sponsor of the Whitney Young High School Aerospace team, who recently competed in The American Rocketry Challenge (TARC) outside of Washington, DC.
TARC is the world’s largest rocket contest for students. This year, approximately 800 teams from all 50 states tried to enter the competition. The top 100 teams were invited to participate in the finals, which included the students from Whitney Young’s Aerospace Team.
Whitney Young’s two teams qualified for the launch event. The top 25 teams were invited to participate in the NASA Student Launch Initiative where the students are mentored by a NASA engineer to develop and program a high-powered rocket, ultimately traveling to Huntsville, Alabama for the launch event.
In the end, one of Whitney Young’s teams finished in the top 25, qualifying for the NASA event. The team will now work on a year-long project with NASA engineers to develop a high-powered rocket nearly 10 feet tall with a payload of a drone or robot depending on the specs.
Congratulations to all the Whitney Young High School Aerospace team members.
